About this deal

It is strange that this book has appeared now, in a time of another great depression and new financial crisis, a time when millions of persons are struggling to survive financially and otherwise. From the other of "Think and Grow rich" here is a new masterpiece. What did Napolean Hill believe spiritually about the Devil? Was this some sort of imagination event or did Napolean really encounter at some level "The Devil"? While this book isn't really a religious book, there are some religious overtunes here. By breaking down past failures, you gain invaluable lessons and prevent yourself from doing the same mistakes over again. Mistakes are great, just don’t make them twice. Oh, and it says when you pray, demand what you want. Good grief- what about the the Lord directing you for good, or counsel not the Lord. He obviously knows what's best. As I begin my important mental health book review I want to discuss one of the most important points this book points out early on, and that is the term ‘drifting.’ As Napoleon Hill interviews the Devil we learn that one of the most powerful tools that the devil possesses in its ability to control the minds of what he refers to as the ‘earthbound’ is drifting.

It came clear to Napoleon that finding and understanding the “Other Self” can alleviate us from all the pain and suffering. The concept that makes this book a hard read for the faint of heart and those desiring 'someone' to rescue them from their failing paradigms, rather than taking personal responsibility, is that the power of the Devil can only manifest itself in our lives if we lend the Devil our energies. Outwitting the Devil suggests that we lend the Devil our energies, by default, when we are careless with our thoughts, words, and actions. In so doing, we "drift" along through life with the rest of the herd (society at large). Hill poignantly portrays, in his Q&A with the Devil, the various thought traps that can cause us to "drift" over to the dark side.

I then re-edited the audiobook, removing Ms. Lechter's commentary so that I could enjoy it in peace. Controlling environmental influence. Who you hang out with matters. What your room looks like matters. with kids- teach more and apply better. I want to help my kids apply the scriptures more. Teach them- food, self control, proper sexuality, service, definitiveness, to think. I have read Hill's "The Law of Success" and found a few of the principles outlined in this book; the major principle being the definiteness of purpose. Of course, the editor, Sharon Lechter, understands that Hill's conversation with the Devil may seem a little far out to many in our culture. Although, in all honesty, it probably is no different when Hill wrote this book in the 1930s. Hill, of course, definitely believed this was the Devil.

Napoleon Hill was one of America’s great, influential thinkers who continues to have an enormous impact today.” —Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine

Learning from adversity (don't give up after small temporary defeats, learn something and keep going)

Fear is the compass to more life. Breathe, and overcome. Notice that every time you get close to the perceived monster, it vanishes. The fear is not real. It’s only a state of mind. You will discover that the cause of success is not something separate and apart from the man; that it is a force so intangible in nature that the majority of men never recognize it; a force which might be properly called the ‘other self.’” Strengthening the power of will : By exercising their willpower and making conscious choices, individuals can resist the Devil's control and assert their autonomy. A strong will is essential for staying committed to one's goals and overcoming the temptation to drift or succumb to fear.

Rule #4: Be willing to render useful service equivalent to the value of all material things you demand of life and render the service first.

However, you should be aware of the fact that “Reality” is self-created; it’s not a Universal fact. But in this instance the show loses shape in a way that leaves the audience baffled. There’s occasional text projected above the stage, a translation of the French voiceover, although these are no more than fragments of Gilgamesh’s story. He will never reach decisions on anything if he can avoid it, and if he is forced to decide, he will reverse himself at the first opportunity.Learning from adversity. Failures are just failures. Whether you learn from them or let them stop you is up to you. Only then, you’ll be able to think about environmental, and sociological hurdles that may hamper your progress. Going into his fictitious interview with evil incarnate, Hill already knew one of the primary tools in the devil’s belt: fear. A few years earlier, Hill had received a death threat. He ended up hiding with relatives for over a year, paralyzed. One night, he finally went outside and found what Carnegie had told him about years before: Harmony ( acting with audacity and purpose to take control and influence over your mental, spiritual, and physical environment)
