This book will not change my life, but it slapped on a smile that's likely to come back every time I think of it.

Y es que La señora Harris en Nueva York no deja de ser una oda con tono sarcástico a todas esas mujeres que se levantan cada día y hacen que sus hogares y los de otros funcionen mejor.I know the first book has recently been adapted for cinema in a film featuring Lesley Manville as the eponymous heroine. Mrs Harris Goes to Paris is written by Paul William Gallico, and if you have taken the time to read his bio, you would realise he has packed a hell of a lot of living into his (short) 79 years on this Earth.

She lives two doors down from her fellow char and best friend Mrs Butterfield, who always imagines the worst of everything and has no desire to leave the comfort of her small flat and her tea kettle. And I believe much of my enjoyment of this book came from listening to an audio narrated by Juliet Steveson more than had I read the book myself. I am merely a reader, a consumer of books for amusement and personal instruction, not a professional reviewer - and that is indeed a worthy profession, an important literary craft - so these posts are merely meant to be one person's reading responses, not scholarly reviews. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking.
