The laid back style of Q-Tip and Phife Dawg over the jazz sampleology of Ali Shaheed Muhammad, along with the daisy age raps of De La Soul, almost single-handedly defined the alternative rap scene, where intelligence and musical nouse replaced guns, hos and bragging. The Low End Theory is ATCQ's jazzy sophomore album, and the VMP Essentials Record of the Month for May 2022. I haven't listened to Midnight Marauders in quite some time, so I wouldn't want to comment on that one, but I do think that Low End Theory sounds great. During the recording sessions, the group fired their manager Kool DJ Red Alert and joined Russell Simmons's Rush Artist Management, with Chris Lighty serving as their new manager. The Jungle Brothers' Done by the Forces of Nature is my personal favorite album from the Native Tongues era.

Of course, it's not an analog recording and I don't want to vouch for it too much, but the low end is pretty nice.

A 1991 landscape-changing release from the pioneering hip-hop group, The Low End Theory embraced a minimalist approach and set the tables for the alternate rap movement that followed. A quarter century later, The Low End Theory is as ubiquitous to the language of modern jazz as Kind of Blue and A Love Supreme, its seamless fusion of beats and bop providing the seeds for future greats .In the unfortunate situation that a product is damaged/faulty/incorrect, let us know and we will endeavor to correct any issue as soon as possible. Producer 9th Wonder described the album as his "personal soundtrack" while growing up, also stating that the group "changed my life. For one summer in 1990, alongside the strains of Madchester, the streets resounded to the sound of 'Can I Kick It? As for how these albums were recorded, to my knowledge the first three albums were all recorded and mixed on analog tape.
