The company history goes back to 1829 when the Tullamore Distillery was founded to produce Irish whiskey. This was created in the 1940s by the Tullamore distillery, but is based on an old recipe developed by monks. Cork taint is more common in bottles with a traditional cork closure, and is recognisable by a damp, rotten wood or rotten cardboard smell. The packaging you received them in would be ideal to ship them back it if you still have it available. Ireland's ancient clans for centuries have drunk heather wine, a blend of spirit, honey, spices and herbs, but the recipe was thought to be lost in 1691. Irish Mist is an Irish whiskey-based liqueur produced in Tullamore, Ireland, by the Irish Mist Liqueur Company Ltd. Ireland's Original Whiskey liqueur, Irish Mist is an authentic blend of sweet honey, fine Irish whiskey and natural spices in perfect balance for a wonderfully complex flavour and drinking experience.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want to change what was heavenly perfect and try to foist something so completely different and unenjoyable on consumers. With honeyed spicy notes and a hint of bitter dark chocolate, Irish Mist has the distinctive flavour of the warming whiskey and sweet honey, complimented by the rich and smooth hints of the naturally aromatic spices. The traditional serve is neat or over ice, but also mixes well with coffee, vodka or cranberry juice. Created in an ancient recipe for heather wine, Irish Mist is produced in a secret recipe unchanged for over a thousand years. That's Irish Mist - a smart, versatile drink for today yet with years of quality and history behind it. Irish Mist was the first liqueur to be produced in Ireland when commercial production began in 1947 at Tullamore, County Offaly.
