Fiona Noble, The Bookseller This absolutely stunning book turns the alphabet into a wild exploration of the animal world .Sharon King-Chai’s brightly colourful art and the cleverly designed shaped pages make Animalphabet a rich delight, while Julia Donaldson’s rhythmic words are a pleasure to read aloud. An hugely-interactive animal ABC guessing game with peep-through pages and amazing fold-out flaps, by the bestselling Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo , and visionary illustrator Sharon King-Chai.

I'm not 100% sure if a child would want to read it over and over again, once they've figured out everything, but I think some would. I know some people don’t like that the book doesn’t make a great amount of sense (they way they go from one animal to another). Simple, but clever clues to each animals, my class of year 2s found it a challenge to remember which letter comes next without going from the beginning each time . Embark on a vibrant voyage of discovery through the natural world in a Julia Donaldson book like no other. Her other books include The Hospital Dog illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, The Christmas Pine illustrated by Victoria Sandøy and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures illustrated by Lydia Monks. It's fun to find the flaps, which fold out in different ways, making it a bit more interesting (though very little hands may need a bit of help here). My 2 year old boy loves naming all the animals as we go through and he is a massive fan of this book in general. Animalphabet is an entertaining way for any toddler to discover new animals, whilst learning their ABC's too. Her other books include Room on the Broom, Stick Man and Zog, illustrated by Axel Scheffle r, The Hospital Dog , illustrated by Sara Ogilvie and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures, illustrated by Lydia Monks. An hugely-interactive animal ABC guessing game with peep-through pages and amazing fold-out flaps, by the bestselling Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo, and visionary illustrator Sharon King-Chai. To be fair, the text is fairly simple - as I'm sure most A-Z books are - the real star here is the colourful artwork. Each page draws you further into a beautifully vibrant world of huge elephants, slithery snakes and growling tigers, inviting you to compare one animal to another and learn comparison words and adjectives from the natural world. Further books illustrated by Axel include Room on the Broom, Stick Man, Zog and The Smeds and the Smoos – all of which have been made into much-loved animated films by Magic Light Pictures. Lovely interactive book with flaps and peep-through cut-out pages; an alphabet through animals, with a short sentence about each animal. No missing or damaged pages, no tears, possible very minimal creasing, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. Animalphabet makes the gift with eye-catching artwork and an exotic array of animals to marvel over. Sharon King-Chai's brightly colourful art and the cleverly designed shaped pages make Animalphabet a rich delight, while Julia Donaldson's rhythmic words are a pleasure to read aloud. The popular bestseller from Julia Donaldson features bold and bright artwork on each page, there's also pop out pages and fold away flaps to make the guessing game exciting.
